Blackpool’s New Buses

Investment in a big fleet of brand new Alexander Dennis Limited(ADL)  Enviro400 City buses from Scotland is well underway, with 10 buses in 2016 and 25 in 2017.  On 9th April a launch event took place when 25 newly delivered buses traveled in convoy from Starr Gate to the Tower Headland where 15 gathered for a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Councillor Christine Wright.

That’s Lancashire TV station 7 on Freeview attended and interviewed VIPs and the public, including Jane Cole MD of Blackpool Transport, see video below:

Blackpool Transport has 140 buses, 54 are in the new Palladium livery.  By 2020 all buses are targeted to be less than 5 years old.  These new buses will be due for replacement in 2022.   The buses are diesel powered, it is possible that hybrid or electric buses will be cycled into the fleet by then.

It’s an impressive step forward for Blackpool in the image presented of the town.
